How and why did you get involved with Irvine Beat FM? : I’ve been a volunteer and presenter with Irvine Beat FM since the very first broadcast, and I’m delighted they keep asking me back!
What are your favourite types of music? : Easiest way to tell is to look at the current collection of CD’s in my car! They are mostly greatest hits albums with some from Texas, Goldfrapp, Daft Punk and M People at the moment. I’m a fan of the 90’s as well, so artists like TTF, Underworld, Ultra Nate, Bizarre Inc, Urban Cookie Collective, Haddaway and Jamiroquai are all favourites. However, if I can sing along to it and play the air drums (badly)… I’ll probably like it!
What do you love about Irvine? : There’s such a wide-mix of community and facilities in Irvine that it’s often under-estimated. From shopping in the Rivergate, the Retail Parks and High Street to seeing live comedy and theatre at the Harbour Arts Centre to various sports venues – there’s something for everyone in the town!
Who was your favourite interviewee? : I’ve been lucky enough to interview quite a few people in different places – from musicians, authors to politicians and business leaders. I really enjoy chatting to people and finding out more about them, they’ve all been brilliant. Well, perhaps except the one person who totally mis-heard my question, got very cross and tried to storm off… that was a bit different!
Who would you most like to interview? : I really enjoy interviewing someone who is passionate about their subject, and the enthusiasm comes across to people listening.
Do you have any secret talents? : Ben is a master of self-depreciation. Well, he’s got to be good at something…
Any other questions and answers you would like to add? : I can normally be found hosting live events for Irvine Beat FM – and I’ve hosted a range of live events from fetes, roadshows and gigs to auctions! While the events always go well (of course!), there’s a few stories that could be told of how things have went wrong… but the audience would never know!
