5 Minute Interview with John Surgenor

How and why did you get involved with radio and in particular, Irvine Beat FM?: I have been doing voluntary work for years and radio since the late 90’s at hospital and community level. As a born and bred in Irvine lad it was a must for me to try and get in on the IBFM story and I have enjoyed every minute of the journey so far and I’m quite excited about the future and hope to be around for a time yet.

What are your favourite types of music? : Eclectic.

What do you love about Irvine? : The moor, the harbour, the beach, but most of all this is where my personal history is, as it was for my Dad.

Best view(point) in Irvine? : I was once up the high flats when my uncle stayed there and I thought it was something wonderful. It was a long time ago as the old bridge was there.

If someone visits Irvine for the first time, where MUST they go? : Down the harbour to the beach and beachpark.

What’s your favourite breakfast? : Porridge
