5 Minute Interview with Peter Lockhart

How and why did you get involved with Irvine Beat FM? : I’m a qualified Solicitor, and a Senior Partner in the well known legal firm of Lockharts Solicitors, Ayr.  I have been a Court Practitioner for over 30 years, specialising in criminal defence law.  In my student days, I was resident DJ in the “Saints and Sinners”, Glasgow, latterly “King Tuts”.  Thereafter, I DJ’d at various nightclubs throughout Ayrshire.  I joined West Sound Radio in the mid 80’s presenting Scotland’s Top 40.  I was associated with the station for over 25 years, latterly presenting the Talk-In.  This was a new concept and became extremely popular.
My family falls into two camps, Legal or Broadcasting!  On the Broadcasting front, my late uncle, Howard Lockhart was awarded an MBE for his services to broadcasting.  Howard was one of the longest serving Radio Presenters on the BBC.  My cousin, Chris Lowe, had a distinguished career in both Radio and TV. In the 90’s he was the 6 O’clock News Anchor, along with Sue Lawley.  Latterly, he was a regular presenter on BBC News 24.  I have the distinction of combining both talents!
