We Asked Chris These Questions:

How did you get into broadcasting?

It was by chance! I had been listening to more and more radio while at school – one man i listened to was Stuart Rodgers who i am now good friends with – and decided i fancied giving a go. I got the chance through work experience at school, went on to present on an RSL in Ayr called Generate-Ayr FM in 2008. I then met a great friend and radio presenter Peter Sturgeon who taught me all i needed to know. Worked with him on two RSLs while presenting at UWS Radio where i hosted for 10 years before being asked to join Irvine Beat in 2018. Loads more has happened but I’m running out of room to type!

I have also more recently done some journalism work with other radio stations too.

Random encounter with any celebrity?

Being in radio does afford you the luxury of meeting the odd celeb now and then and I am lucky to have many some absolute legends! However a random encounter was actually in Los Angeles going on one of these open bus tours around all the celeb’s houses. A man was walking minding his own business and he seemed to catch my eye and he shouted, ‘Morning!’ to me. I smiled and waved back and the driver was raging because it turned out to be Quentin Tarantino and i hadn’t shouted to let everyone know! I didn’t even realise it was him!

If you could interview anyone, who would it be and what question would you ask them?

As controversial as it may sound i would LOVE to interview Piers Morgan.

Music preferences or favourite album?

Bruce Hornsby is my favourite artist of all time. He was one of the people who inspired me to learn piano when I started at five years old. He doesn’t tour the UK very often and the last time was back in 2012 at the Glasgow Concert Hall. I will see him again in November 2019 i honestly cannot wait! I hope i get to meet him!

One surprising fact that your regular listeners may not know about you?

I once (as a joke/curiosity pleaser) auditioned for The X Factor back in 2007. I got one audition away from the judges and was told I wouldn’t get a stage further as i didn’t have any “potential star quality”. I also spoke to who turned out to win that year Leon Jackson who was four behind me in the queue outside the audition room! I still have the letter and my sticker with my number on it.
