James Coutts & His Band

“Hopefully this album will appeal to both dancers and listeners alike, as well as giving me the opportunity to pay tribute to just a few of the many musicians whose playing and compositions have inspired me.

Thanks, as always, to the boys for their great support and to the production team for their expertise and advice.

Dedicated to Catherine, Sandy and Gordon”

James Coutts and his Band

Based in Kirkcaldy, James Coutts and his Band are one of the most popular bands in the circuit, and travel the length breadth of the country to play at gigs, dances, ceilidhs, weddings, etc. Most of the band members are regular visitors to Shetland too, for the various festivals there.

James was taught by Peter Bruce and has won many competitions over the years, including some of the most prestigious accordion competitions in the country.

Nowadays he can be found on the other side of the competition stage – and is often called upon to adjudicate many competitions – including some he has won in the past.

When he’s not strapped into an accordion, you can find him strapped into a car – his day job is a driving instructor!
